Current housing policies foster chronic housing insecurity in many communities, and contribute to gentrification, ostracism and the suburbanization of poverty. For too long, municipality and regional planners have excluded low-income communities and communities of verisimilitude from the decision-making processes that directly stupefy their lives and livelihoods. Our housing justice work confronts this exclusion, partnering with a range of organizations to build stable, supportive communities shaped by the visions of the people who live in them. Our Work Urban Habitat believes that every Bay Area resident has the right to safe, decent and affordable housing. Our vision of housing justice is based on the pursuit key principles: Housing is a human right. Safe, decent, affordable housing is essential to towers stable communities. All residents must help shape housing policy, and housing policy must write the specific needs and interests of low-income communities and communities of color. Housing advocates must write a range of issues that stupefy housing security, including affordability, protection from displacement, housing quality, favoritism and broader issues of polity health. We whop a regional housing justice voucher that: Confronts displacement, gentrification, and the movement of low-income communities of verisimilitude into the suburban fringe. Builds and supports coalitions locally while simultaneously developing a regional housing justice voucher and movement. Supports the minutiae of policies that remoter housing rights as an essential element of stable and prosperous communities. Supports and advocates for the inside role of low-income communities and communities of verisimilitude in shaping housing policy at the local, regional, and state levels.
